The usual oddballs from our Rotary Club descended on the second Stourport Steampunk and Vintage Spectacular. With the customary mix of vintage and Steampunk related stalls and exhibits and unusual themed entertainment, it was, as always, well worth a visit. The event was once again housed in the ‘Stourport Civic’ close to the River Severn.

On the outside of the venue there was the usual ‘Teapot Racing’ stall which is a great game, provided free, for kids of all ages. Also there was a Steampunk caravan, different from the one that attended last year and a stall with outside art and sculpture made from welded items from previously purposed equipment.

On the inside of the venue there were plenty of stalls which sold all sorts of Steampunk accessories including miniature figurines made to emulate the buyer in their favourite outfit as well as the more normal items such as vintage clothing, fob watches and a range of vintage style headwear.

The entertainment on stage was interesting and captivating if sometimes a little strange. (One of the acts was the ‘Belly Fusion Dance Collective’ providing their act in full Steampunk attire!)

Once enough browsing, tea drinking and purchasing had taken place we headed down to the river, not to take a swim, even though the day was hot enough for it, but to go to ‘Playland Fun Park’ and the adjacent children’s play park (a definite hit for the kids.)

The kids were great at climbing; it was the descending that caused problems!
