Our Presidential Handover took place at our regular breakfast meeting on 30 June; Steve Jordan thanked everyone for their support during 2017-18, presented a couple of awards, and passed on the Presidential Jewel to incoming President Troy Allen, who briefly outlined his plans for the coming year to everyone present. Here’s to a great 2018-19!
The Rotary year runs from July to June, so our handover takes place at the end of June or early in July each year. This year we used our last breakfast meeting of June to thank outgoing president Steve and welcome in Troy to the role.
We were pleased to have Assistant Governor David Marklew in attendance, as well as a healthy number of our members. Outgoing president Steve presented two awards, both to Sonia – the first was as Fundraiser of the Year following her efforts to raise money for Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign through her Hair Today Gone Tomorrow event. The second award is chosen and presented by the outgoing President, and it our Rotarian of the Year award, which this year also went to Sonia.
Steve passed on the Presidential jewel to Troy, who presented his team for the new year, and spoke briefly of his hopes and plans for his term. It was a good morning, and with nothing planned for immediately after the meeting we had a good chance to catch up with each other and generally socialise too.
We look forward to Troy’s year as President and hope we can build on the successes of Steve’s year in office.
